Holy Child Primary School, Derry

Shared Education P7 Holy Child and Ebrington P.S. prepare for a showcase on Thursday 11th June 2026

7th Jun 2026
These pictures are a snapshot of ten weeks work (by two primary schools in 2026) which have been working with each other for over nineteen years.
One school is from Creggan Estate on the city side of the River Foyle and one school is from the Waterside area of the River Foyle. The two schools now share a school motto "Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day."
The project is called Shared Education and has been founded by the Department of Education as part of a strategy for peace and reconciliation in the city of Derry/Londonderry.
The pupils take part in lessons in each others school to do with the history of the city. The theme of the work is titled "If Stones Could Speak....."
This involves the pupils engaging in: history lessons, W.A.U. lessons, literacy lessons, P.D.M.U. lessons, drama and art. They go on tours/visits of many historical sites in the city.
After ten weeks the project culminates in a showcase where they display artwork, talk about their adventures and voice their opinions for the future to a gathered audience.
