Holy Child Primary School, Derry

Year 3

Ahoy there! This term, our P3 learners are embarking on an exciting adventure with our theme “Splish Splash Pirates.” Through this imaginative topic, children will develop key Literacy and Numeracy skills across the curriculum.

In Literacy, pupils will enjoy pirate stories, build rich vocabulary, practise reading for information, and create their own imaginative pirate tales, letters, and reports. In Numeracy, learners will apply their skills through fun, real-life pirate challenges such as counting treasure, solving number problems and measuring. Alongside this, children will enjoy creative art, map-making, teamwork, and outdoor learning, making this a fun-filled, active learning journey where skills are developed through play, exploration, and adventure. We will bring our theme to a close just before Easter with our Pirate Day, an exciting finale to our swashbuckling learning journey!
