Primary 1 took part in an exciting home learning project where they were challenged to build a boat using recycled materials. When the boats were brought into class, the children tested them to see whether they would float or sink. Through this investigation, they learned about waterproof materials and discussed which materials worked best for keeping water out. Some children noticed that their boats needed improvements and made adjustments before testing again, showing great problem-solving skills. We also explored the idea of balance, and some children discovered that adding extra weight helped to stabilise their boats and stop them from tipping or sinking. The activity was lots of fun and helped the children develop their curiosity, creativity, and early scientific thinking. 🚤🌊
