💻Minecraft Day📱
To celebrate International Minecraft Day on 17th May, we held the first of our exciting Minecraft Days. As part of the celebrations, our Primary 6 pupils took part in a special Farm Challenge, designed to test both their creativity and teamwork. Working in their cooperative learning teams, the children were tasked with building a farm in Minecraft that met specific design criteria. To succeed, they had to apply their understanding of perimeter, area, and volume, using these mathematical concepts to problem solve and plan their structures effectively. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to learn through play, collaborate with their peers, and showcase their skills in a fun and engaging way.
At the end of the session, the children used the Thinking Skills and Personal Capabilities dice to reflect on their experiences. This prompted thoughtful discussions about what they had learned, the challenges they encountered, and what they most enjoyed about the task. It was a valuable opportunity for them to recognise the importance of teamwork, problem-solving, and resilience throughout the challenge.
