Building Bridges in P2
As part of our topic ‘Grand Designs’ P2 have been learning about bridges.
We discussed why and where we need bridges and looked at different bridges from around the world. We also learned about the bridges in Derry.
We learned that engineers design bridges and we looked at the features of bridges, such as pillars and cables. We had a turn at being engineers and worked together to design our very own bridges. Some groups decided their bridge would be used for trains to cross and others wanted their bridge to cross rivers.
Finally we were builders and worked together to build bridges. We used a range of materials to make our bridges strong including cardboard, wooden blocks and string.
