Holy Child Primary School, Derry

Online Safety

In our digital world, children need to develop a range of knowledge and skills that will allow them to be safe online and display acceptable behaviour when online and using technology.

At Holy Child Primary School, we are committed to developing essential ICT skills in line with the Northern Ireland curriculum. We integrate technology across various subjects, ensuring that students engage with digital tools and resources in meaningful ways.

Lessons taught as part of Digital for Life and Work, help ensure we are supporting our children to become responsible digital citizens in our world. Teaching and learning takes place regularly and throughout the year and is broken into six areas:
• Digital Wellbeing and Online Safety
• Digital Etiquette and Identity
• Digital Security and Privacy
• Digital Law
• Digital Consumer
• Digital Proficiency

At home, it is important that parents understand the dangers of using the internet and know that there are age restrictions on many of the apps and games children want to use.
