Notices for the week beginning Monday May 15th 2017

14th May 2017

First of all I need to congratulate 6 children from Holy Child who competed in the Foyle Hospice Kool Kidz Strictly Come Dancing Competition in the Everglades Hotel last night. Quite simply, they were AMAZING! This was our first time taking part in this competition and we had three couples there, Sarah Carlin and Brandon Canning (P7) and Saoirse Lynch, Eoin Havord, Katie O Neill and Eunan Casey (P6). They danced the night away with 17 other couples from local primary schools entertaining a huge crowd and to top it all, Katie and Eunan only went on to become the winners of the competition - Foyle Hospice Kool Kids Strictly Come Dancing Champions 2017... Wow! We are all so, so proud. Surely a fine thing to happen in our 60th year! I personally want to say how proud I am of all 6 children and thank their parents for bringing them along to practices every Sunday for three months. Every one of you deserve a great big hug!

Now, for the week ahead:
As I say every week, please send PE kits in tomorrow - each week there are many children unable to take part in PE and this is despite their lessons often being on Thursdays and Fridays... if they are all in on Mondays we can avoid this.

Finally, as you know, we began a new programme on Relationships and Sexuality Education this year and this is being taught in all classes from P2-P7. For this programme your child brings home their work each week to discuss with parents. We would encourage you to make sure you take part in this work as it is a wonderful opportunity to build an open relationship with your child so that you can talk together about the challenges and difficulties they may face in their lives. Be sure to ask them if they haven't been sharing the work!
